History

Our story began with humble lines on paper and fabrics produced solely in Japan, and so remains the very heart of Dentelle.

Digital design and exported production have become a fast-paced industry standard, but it is our belief that traditional artistic practices breathe unique warmth and unmatched beauty into our work.

Art is connection and a reflection of soul, and we are committed to carrying on the tradition of Japanese craftsmanship that honours the past and inspires the future.

Hiroyasu Tokuda

Our story traces back to the days when our designer first joined Toho Lace Co., Ltd., immersing in the art of lace planning and design. Over the years, delicate sensibility and refined technique were carefully cultivated, thread by thread.

In 1977, with a dream to realise creations that carried a distinct worldview and a spirit of originality, an independent path was struck under the name Dentelle Tokuda.

By 1985, this vision had grown into the foundation of Dentelle Co., Ltd., where we have continued to craft high-quality fabrics for wedding dresses, apparel, and stage costumes, bringing beauty and elegance to life’s most treasured moments.

At the heart of our journey lies a mission: to weave together traditional Japanese craftsmanship and innovative design into textiles that exist nowhere else in the world, with each one a testament to timeless artistry.

We provide textile designs tailored to our clients’ visions, and original, one-of-a-kind fabrics fully produced in Japan.

Every design is drawn entirely by hand without the use any digital tools. It is through hand-drawing that the strength of each line and the subtlety of every nuance are born, creating an expression that cannot be replicated by others.

We design textile patterns from scratch based on our clients’ visions, creating truly original fabrics that cannot be found elsewhere. All of our textiles are custom-made in Japan with exceptional craftsmanship.
